We had a great and busy week in 2nd grade!

Reading: In Reading we focused on Checking for Comprehension while reading. We asked "Who are the characters in the story?" and "What happened?" to make sure that we understood what we were reading. We also continued to practice our Read to Self and Read to Someone procedures.

Writing: This week in Writing we learned about different ways to begin our stories. We learned how to start our stories with a sound and then practiced during writing time. On Friday we shared one of our stories with a partner.

Math: In Math this week we learned about story problems. We learned how to identify key words in the problem that let us know whether we should add or subtract. Throughout the week we looked at different one-step and two-step problems and practiced solving them.

Bible: This week in Bible we learned about how God always keeps His promises. We learned about the promises He made to Abraham and Jacob and how He kept those promises.

Social Studies: In Social Studies we continued learning about maps, the continents, and the oceans. We also started working on our own map drawings in groups.

4. We will have our 1st and 2nd grade Field Trip to Toguchi Beach on Friday, September 16th. Information and Permission Slips were sent home today with each student. Please send those back to school by next Friday. We hope that many of you will be able to join us for this fun day at the beach!
