Friday 9 September 2016

Happy Friday! We had a great week of hard work and lots of learning! Here's a peek at what we did:

Reading: This week in reading we focused on Accuracy strategies. We learned what to do when are reading and come to a word that we don't know. We practiced stretching out each sound in the word and then putting them all together. Then we practiced asking ourselves if the word matched the pictures, sounded right, and made sense. This week we also continued to practice our Read to Self and Read to Someone and made it to 20 minutes!

Writing: In Writing we focused on making goals for the 1st quarter. We talked about how to make SMART goals and write specific steps that will help us reach our goal. Throughout the week each student picked a subject area and wrote their goal and steps to improve in that area.

Math: This week we continued to focus on our addition and subtraction. We also learned how to solve word problems in which in the end result is unknown. On Friday we took our Chapter 1 test.

Bible: In Bible we learned about Jacob and Joseph.  We learned that God was with them even in the hard times of their lives. In the same way that God took care of them, He will also take care of us.
