Friday News 5/28-5/31

We enjoyed having lunch together outside on Friday!





Reading: This week we began reading a chapter book together. 


Writing: We began writing our information books about Solids and Liquids. Each student chose a solid or a liquid that they know a lot about. Then we planned out our different chapters and wrote our introduction.

Math: We learned about fractions and area this week!

Bible: We continued learning about the Fruit of the Spirit. This week we learned about Patience and Kindness. We learned:

Patience - I will wait without complaining
Kindness - I will be nice to everyone.

We thought of times when we complain and what we could say instead of complaining. We also learned that even a small act of kindness can make a difference and change someone's day.

Friday News 5/20-5/24

Here's a look at our week:

Reading: This week we finished comparing and contrasting stories. We read different versions of The Three Little Pigs.

Writing: We did a science experiment to answer the question: Is toothpaste a solid or a liquid? We wrote our hypothesis and then put toothpaste in water to see what would happen. We shook the bottle to see how the toothpaste changed and then waited until the next day to see what happened. Lastly we put some of the mixture into a container to evaporate.



Math: We learned about 3D shapes. We learned the properties of a cube, sphere, rectangular prism, cylinder, cone, and pyramid.

Bible: We continued learning about the Fruit of the Spirit. This week we learned about love, joy, and peace. We learned:

LOVE: I will put others first
JOY: I will be okay with what I have
PEACE: I will not be afraid because I trust God


Important Information:

Friday News 5/13-5/17

Here's a look at our week!

Reading: We continued comparing and contrasting different versions of a story. This week we focused on the story of Cinderella. We had fun reading the story from different perspectives and different interpretations.

Phonics: We learned some common prefixes and suffixes. We looked at how they change the meaning of a word.








Writing: We started another science experiment this week. In this experiment we predicted what would happen to different solids when we put them in water for a few days. We had solids such as mint, cardboard, cookies, rice, beans, and more. We observed what happened and wrote about it.










Math: We started our last chapter on shapes. This week we focused on 2D shapes and how many sides and angles they have.

Bible: We finished our unit on the early church by looking at Paul's life. We learned about Paul's missionary journeys and about his final journey to Rome.

Friday News 5/6-5/10

Here's a look at our week:

Reading: This week we focused on comparing and contrasting different versions of the same story. We read several different versions of Little Red Riding Hood and then on Friday we told what parts were the same and what parts were different.


Writing: At the beginning of the week we finished our bridges and got to test them. We wanted to see if they could hold 10 wooden blocks. We had a lot of fun testing them and thinking about how to make our bridges even better. Then we looked at our writing to see what we could make even better.

















Math: We continued learning how to measure. On Friday we had a Measurement Olympics. We had eight different events in which we estimated and measured how far the base-ten block would go.










Bible: This week we learned about Saul becoming a follower of Jesus. We also learned about Peter preaching the good news of Jesus to the Gentiles. We learned that the message of Jesus is for everyone, not just the Jewish people. We also learned the story of how God saved Peter from prison.
