Field Day!

We had a great Field Day today! The students enjoyed many different activities outside and some time at the park as well.

 

 

Here's a look at the rest of our week:

Reading: This week we read different versions of Cinderella and then compared and contrasted them.

Writing: We began a new unit: Writing Like Scientists. We did an experiment on Monday and then wrote about it and what we discovered.

Math: We started our measurement unit. We learned how to measure in inches and how to convert from inches to feet to yards.

Bible: We learned about the power of the Holy Spirit. We learned about Peter and John healing a man who couldn't walk and how God gave them power to not be afraid.

Friday News 4/20

We had a blast Friday at our Kid City! The students did great working their jobs and being respectful customers. Thank you to all the parents that helped on Friday! Pictures will be coming soon!

Here's a look at the rest of our week:

Reading: This week we focused on comparing and contrasting stories. We read five different versions of Little Red Riding Hood and then the students split into groups to compare and contrast the adaptations to the original story.

Math: We finished learning how to tell time. We made our own watches and practiced telling time to 5 minute intervals.

Bible: We learned about Jesus going back to Heaven and about the coming of the Holy Spirit. We learned that the Holy Spirit gives us power.

3. Field Day will be this coming Friday (27th). All students need to bring a home lunch to school as we will be walking down to the park for a picnic and afternoon play time.

Friday News 4/13

Here's a look at our first week back from Spring Break:

Reading: This week we learned how to compare and contrast characters. We read several different books and identified things that were the same and different between the characters. We also played Compare and Contrast Uno and Compare and Contrast Memory.

Writing: We wrote about our Spring Break! We picked out four things that happened during Spring Break and made Polaroid pictures.

Math: We learned how to tell time to the quarter hour and to 5 minutes. We also learned how to tell if something happened in the A.M. or P.M.

Bible: We learned about Jesus appearing to the disciples after His resurrection. We also learned about how God forgave Peter and gave him an important job to do.

Phonics: We worked on our 'ar' and 'or' words. On Tuesday we became pirates and went on a treasure hunt to find 'ar' words. On Thursday we made S'mores to learn about 'or' words.

3. Kid City is next Friday! Please bring an empty wallet and a small bag or purse with you to school. Kid City will be from 12:30-3:00.
