Friday News 5/22-5/26

Here's a look at our week:

Reading: This week we finished learning how to Compare and Contrast stories. We read the Princess and the Frog and a few other fair tales.

Writing: We worked on writing our opinions. We picked one opinion to work on with a partner and then write a final copy.

Math: We started our last chapter on shapes. This week we learned about two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes. We counted the angles and sides of 2D shapes and the faces, vertices, and edges of 3D shapes.

Bible: We continued learning about the Fruit of the Spirit. This week we learned about Joy (I will be okay with what I have), Peace (I will not be afraid because I trust God), and Patience (I will wait without complaining).

Important Information:

1. Spelling: any, very, many, ceiling, pretty, every, valley, foggy, windy, cloudy, money, movie, sleepy, receive, sunny, cookie, together, measure

2. Memory Verse: In the same way, let your line shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven. Matthew 5:16

3. All library books are due back this Wednesday. Please make sure your student bring them to school on that day.

Friday News 5/15-5/19

Reading: This week we continued learning how to compare and contrast stories. We read two versions of Cinderella and two versions of Jack and the Beanstalk. The students work with partners and on their own to identify what was the same and what was different about the two versions.

Writing: We started learning how to write our opinion on different topics. We practiced all together with writing what we thought was the best thing to do at recess. Then we learned how to express our opinion and write good reasons.

Math: This week we finished learning about Measurement. We practiced measuring different body parts with a measuring tape and took our chapter test.




































Bible: In Bible we started learning about the Fruit of the Spirit. We focused on the first part: love, which means to think of others before ourselves.. We learned about God's love for us and what it looks like to love other people.

2. Bible Verse: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Galatians 5:22

3. Summer School packets were sent home on Friday. If you would like your child to attend summer school, please stop by the office with the completed form and payment. Summer School is not mandatory for all students, however it is open for all students to attend. If you have any questions please let me know or call the office.

Friday News for 5/8-5/12

Here's a look at our week:

Reading: This week we learned how to compare and contrast different versions of stories. We read two versions of Little Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks and the 3 Bears and then wrote down what was the same and what was different.

Writing: This week we finished learning about Poetry. We wrote limerick poems that rhymed. Here is our class poem:

There once was a little pet snail,
who started to steal all the mail,
he got caught by a snake,
with a really big rake,
and spent all his time in a jail.

Math: This week we continued learning how to measure. We learned about centimeters and meters and practiced measuring and comparing objects.








Bible: In Bible we learned about Peter taking the message of Jesus to the Gentiles. We also learned how God freed Peter from jail in a miraculous way.

Friday News for 5/1-5/5

Happy Golden Week! I hope you have a wonderful day off tomorrow!

Here's a look at our week:

Reading: This week we focused on comparing and contrasting characters. We learned to look at the outside and the behaviors of two characters and see what is the same and what is different.


Writing: We learned to write Shape Poems! We wrote poems about ice cream, clouds, trees, rain, the sun, and butterflies.


Math: This week we learned how to measure using inches, feet, and yards. We practiced measuring pictures, lines, and real life objects.







Bible: We learned more about the Holy Spirit this week. We learned the stories of Philip and Stephen and how the Holy Spirit gave them courage to do what was right even if they didn't understand.

Important Information:
