Friday News 2/3-2/7

Here's a look at our week:

Reading: We finished learning about cause and effect. We also learned about facts and opinions. We learned that a fact is something that is always true and an opinion is what you think or feel about something.

Writing: We learned how to identify character traits. We identified character traits about ourselves and wrote evidence. We also wrote our first opinion letters about book characters.

Math: We continued learning how to subtract three digit numbers.

Kid City: This week we learned about the City Hall. We practiced applying for an ID Card and a Health Card.

Important Information:

1. Monthly Bible Verse: See what amazing love the Father has given us! Because of it, we are called children of God. 1 John 3:1

2. We have a few holidays coming up. This next Tuesday (11th) and the next Monday (17th) will be holidays. We will still have school this coming Monday (10th).

3. Valentine's Day is coming on Friday, February 14th. We will have a little party in class at the end of the day. If your student would like to bring Valentines to pass out to the class that would be great, but please make sure they have one for everyone in the class.

4. The week of February 24th-28th will be our Elementary Week of Reading. On Tuesday we will have our annual Character Parade. On this day we ask students to dress up as one of their favorite book characters and bring that book to school with them. The K-2nd classes will then take a walk around the school to celebrate reading! Here is the schedule for the week:

Monday: Bring a stuffed animal to school

Tuesday: Dress like a book character (K-2nd Character Parade at 8:30)

Wednesday: Olympic Day - wear athletic clothes

Thursday: Wear a shirt with words on it

Friday: Pajama Day
