Welcome Gayun!

This week we welcomed Gayun Kim to our class! This raises our number up to 18 students! We spent the week getting to know each other and helping Gayun settle in to our class.

Here's a look at our week:

Reading: In reading we began our unit on Comparing and Contrasting stories. We read two different versions of the fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood and identified the parts that were the same about them and the parts that were different.

Writing: This week we learned about the elements of persuasive writing. We also wrote our own persuasive piece about the best super hero power. Each student picked which power they thought was the best and then wrote a paragraph to try to convince me to pick that one too.

Math: In math we finished up Unit 10 by practicing our place value and learning about how parentheses are used in math. Next week we will review Unit 10 and take our test.

Bible: This week we learned about Jesus ascending into Heaven and about the coming of the Holy Spirit. We learned that the Holy Spirit teaches us, reminds us of the things that Jesus said, and gives us power to live for Jesus.
