Friday News 2/9

Here's a look at our week:

Reading: We finished learning about Cause and Effect. We read several books and identified the cause and effect in each one.

Writing: We learned how to retell part of the story in our letters so that our reader knows what the book is about. On Friday we shared some of our letters with the class!

Math: We finished our unit on three-digit subtraction and took our chapter test. On Friday we started learning about money. We learned the characteristics of a penny, nickel, dime, and quarter.

Bible: This week we learned about Jesus raising Jairus's daughter from the dead, how he healed a man who was paralyzed for 38 years, and how he fed 5000 people with only 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. We learned that Jesus has power over death, long sicknesses, and that he can take a little and multiply it to be a lot more.

2. Memory Verse: A new teaching! And with so much authority! He even gives orders to evil spirits, and they obey him. Mark 1:27

3. Next week is Service Week for the Middle and High School students. Because of this our schedule will be a little different. We will have no specials classes next week. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoon we will be participating in a Kid's Club put on by the Middle and High School students.

4. Next Wednesday is Valentine's Day! We will be having a little celebration in our classroom that morning. If your child would like to bring Valentines that would be great, but it is not required. We do ask that if they decided to bring some, they bring enough for every one in the class. We now have 20 students in our class - 10 boys and 10 girls.

5. Our Elementary Week of Reading will be from 2/26-3/2. Each day we will have a different activity to celebrate Reading!

Monday: Bring a stuffed animal
Tuesday: Character Parade - dress up like your favorite character! Be sure to bring the book to school with you too!
Wednesday: Wear a Hat or Sunglasses
Thursday: Wear a shirt with words on it
Friday: Pajama Day
