Friday News 2/25-3/1

Here's a look at our week:

Reading: This week we started learning about Main Idea and Topic. We learned how to read a story and find the topic and the main idea. Next week we will continue to practice with both fiction and nonfiction stories.



Writing: We continued working on our poems. We learned how to add comparisons to our poems to make them even better. Next week we will be picking our favorite poems to share at our 2nd Grade Poetry Slam on Friday.

Math: We have been busy learning all about graphs. This week we learned how to read bar graphs and how to make line plots.





Bible: We started our unit on the Parables of Jesus. We learned about how Jesus wants us to forgive others just as He forgives us. We also learned that Jesus wants us to love all people.

Important Information:

1. Spelling Words: raft, calf, built, golden, gulf, left, held, shelf, folktale, milk, building, drift, halfway, felt, once, Thursday

2. Memory Verse: See what amazing love the Father has given us! Because of it, we are called children of God. 1 John 3:1

3. Next week is Service Week for the High School and Middle School. As a part of this we will be attending a Kid's Club Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoon. There will also be no Japanese class next week.

4. Please mark Friday, March 22nd on your calendars! We will have our 2nd grade field trip on that day. More information will be coming soon!

4. We have a new Scholastic Book order! If you would like to order you can send in the order form and money to me or order online at http://world-schools.scholastic.co.uk/okinawa-christian-school-intl. The last day to order will be Friday, March 8.

Friday News 2/18-2/22

We had a wonderful week celebrating our love for books and reading! Here are some pictures from the week:

Reading: This week we celebrated books! See above for some fun pictures from the week! :)

Writing: We continued writing our poems! This week we learned how to add patterns to our poems and how to write poems with different moods.

Math: This week we started learning about graphs! We learned how to take a survey, make a tally graph, make a picture graph, and make a bar graph.





Bible: We finished learning about Jesus's miracles. We learned about Jesus raising his friend Lazarus back from the dead. We finished the week by making a puzzle to show all the things we learned about Jesus's power.
